Well, this was unexpected!
Sensational Crafts has been selected as a finalist in the Australian Small Business Champion Awards once again, this time in the Sole Operator category!
When we first saw the email we had to do a double-take (and maybe a triple-check just to be sure).
Now, we know what you’re thinking Hang on, aren’t there two of you?, And yes, technically, we keep the wheels turning, but as any small business owner will tell you, it often feels like a one-person show! Between running the shop, keeping up with orders, managing stock, answering phones (Gary’s job, of course), and Yvonne making sure the place doesn’t fall into complete chaos, we definitely fit the bill for this category.
What This Means to Us
Last year, when we won the Arts, Crafts, and Gifts category, we were a bit stunned. We honestly had no idea what a big deal it was until we were sitting at the awards night in Sydney, surrounded by hundreds of other passionate small business owners. This time, we are going in with a bit more awareness,but just as much gratitude.
Running a small business in a regional town isn’t always easy, but the love and support we get from our customers (aka our extended Sensational Crafts family) makes it all worthwhile. Whether you come in for a chat, a photo print, or a crafting project that has us scratching our heads before declaring, Yep, we can do that! Just remember you’re the reason we keep going.
Unfortunately, We Can’t Attend the Awards Night, But For a Good Reason!
The awards night is on March 29th, which just happens to be the same day as our Sensational Crafts Experience at the Parish Hall! While we would love another excuse to dress up and soak in the excitement of the big night, our hearts (and hands) will be busy right here in town, celebrating what we love most, crafting with our community.
And speaking of the Craft Experience, we still have some spaces available! If you’ve been thinking about coming along, now’s the time to grab your spot. The more, the merrier!, plus, it helps support our little shop! Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just looking to have a fun day out, we would love to have you there.
So, while we won’t be in Sydney to hear the results firsthand, we’ll be surrounded by our wonderful customers, doing what we do best. Win or lose, we’re just thrilled to be recognised again, and we will be sure to keep you all updated.
